Cooperation takes concrete form again
In October 2024, the HANAKO network gathered in Rovaniemi for the first larger fully on-site seminar after the pandemic. The seminar marked a clear transition from remote connections back to face-to-face interaction, and from planning to concrete action. At the same time, it strengthened cooperation in practice and made the network’s activities visible again.
Both Japanese and Finnish partners participated on site. It was particularly significant that the participants covered their own travel costs. This reflects strong commitment, long-term cooperation, and deeply built mutual trust.
Key themes of the seminar
The Rovaniemi seminar focused on current societal and educational changes and their impact on cooperation. Discussions highlighted developments in the welfare sector in both Finland and Japan, changes in vocational education and training, and opportunities for networking. At the same time, future directions and needs for cooperation were explored.
The programme included expert presentations from both countries, joint discussions, and visits to learning environments and workplaces.
Renewal of the cooperation agreement
During the seminar, a cooperation agreement between the HANAKO network and Suzuki Academy was signed. The agreement strengthens collaboration in education, promotes student and staff exchange, and supports the sharing of knowledge and expertise. It also reinforces joint development work, particularly in the welfare sector.
The agreement demonstrates that the cooperation is not only based on informal networking but is also supported by a clear and long-term structural foundation.
