The HANAKO network seminar was held on 27 November 2025 in Kouvola, hosted by Eduko. The theme of the seminar focused on well-being, resilience, and meaningful work in a changing working life.

The seminar brought together Finnish and Japanese experts, teachers, and students. The programme addressed topics such as well-being at work, skills in the social and health care sector, and students’ experiences of learning and working life .

A Japanese delegation participated on site, and the visit also included familiarisation with Finnish learning environments, such as a kindergarten and vocational education settings .

The seminar further strengthened the long-term cooperation between Finland and Japan. The value of the event was particularly evident in dialogue, sharing experiences, and jointly reflecting on the skills and well-being needed in the future of work.

The seminar also highlighted cultural perspectives on well-being. In the Japanese presentation, well-being was strongly seen as a relational concept built on harmony, empathy, and mutual care. At the same time, discussions emphasised the importance of future-oriented skills such as adaptability, communication, and the ability to navigate uncertainty.
